Serra Club of Kamloops Diocese...What do we do?

The Serra Club of the Kamloops Diocese is part of an International organization promoting and supporting future and existing vocations with the approval of His Excellency Bishop Joseph Nguyen. Serrans are lay Catholics - men and women of all ages and from all walks of life. We all share the same dedication to promoting and fostering vocations. We, as a club sponsor programs, dinners, retreats, support altar servers and generally promote and support vocations in any way we can.
We are always accepting new members with involvement ranging from volunteering, sharing ideas, or simply praying for vocations and our existing Clergy and Religious: all worthwhile endeavors in promoting and fostering vocations. If you would like more information, contact Catherine cmcgovern@serrakamloops.ca and check back here at Vocation Place to keep up to date on what we are doing.

This week The Serra Club of Kamloops is releasing our first video of our series “Walk a Mile in My Shoes”  The idea behind this new initiative is to get to know our Priests, Brothers and Sisters in our Diocese and see what they do. We love our clergy and would love to know them better!  Our first video is featuring Rev. Fr. Derrick Cameron from Kamloops. Click on YouTube https://youtu.be/zmkdwJPxprs  and on the Serra website https://serracanada.com (find a club…Kamloops)   Thank you, Father Derrick, !

The Kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed.
-Mt 13:31

We also have a new additional page on our website to help promote Vocations called Vocation Place.  A short bio from one of our Priests will be featured here.  Currently featured is Fr. Ajin George.  https://www.rcdk.org/pages/vocation-place

ROMAN CATHOLIC BISHOP DIOCESE OF KAMLOOPS

PREPARATION OF THE SOLEMNITY FEAST OF ST. JOSEPH

PRINCIPAL PATRON OF CANADA

Pope Francis has proclaimed this year as the “Year of St. Joseph”, recognizing the 150th anniversary of the declaration of St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church.

Bishop Joseph is asking the faithful of our Diocese to prepare for the Solemnity Feast of St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church and Canada, on March 19th by praying a novena prayer each day from March 10 to March 18 inclusive; the novena will be livestreamed each morning at 11:30 am in community prayer from Sacred Heart Cathedral in Kamloops, along with a very short teaching each day about the life of St. Joseph.

On March 19, Bishop Joseph will celebrate Mass commemorating the Solemnity Feast of St. Joseph at Sacred Heart Cathedral; this Mass will be livestreamed beginning at 11:30 am.

Please mark your calendars for the livestream of the novena and short teaching, each day at 11:30 am from March 10 through March 18, and for the livestreamed Mass on March 19 at 11:30 am.

NOVENA PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH

Protect, O Holy Guardian, this our nation.

Enlighten those responsible for the common good, so that they might know – like you do – how to care for those entrusted to their responsibility.

Grant intelligence of knowledge to those seeking adequate means for the health and physical well-being of their brothers and sisters.

Sustain those who are spending themselves for those in need, even at the cost of their own safety: volunteers, nurses, doctors who are on the front lines in curing the sick

Bless, O St. Joseph, the Church: beginning with your ministers, make her the sign and instrument of your light and your goodness.

Accompany, O St. Joseph, our families: with prayerful silence, create harmony between parents and their children, in a special way with the youngest.

Preserve the elderly from loneliness: grant that no one might be left in desperation from abandonment and discouragement.

Comfort those who are most frail, encourage those who falter, intercede for the poor.  With the Virgin Mother, beg the Lord to liberate the world from every form of pandemic.  Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
