Rite of Election - March 1, 2026

The Rite of Election, the second major rite in the RCIA, marks the catechumens’ final stage of preparation for full communion with Christ and His Church. At this celebration, the Bishop, as the Church’s representative, formally “elects” those ready to receive the sacraments of initiation. Catechumens also inscribe their names in the Book of the Elect as a sign of their commitment and fidelity (RCIA 106).
