Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As we journey through this sacred season of Lent, we are called to deepen our prayer, embrace penance through fasting, and open our hearts in acts of charity. A powerful way to live this call is by supporting the parish collection for Development and Peace – Caritas Canada on Share Lent Sunday, March 22.
Guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, we are reminded of our responsibility to care for the most vulnerable and to protect our common home. In his recent pastoral teaching, Pope Leo XIV affirms that, “love for the poor is the evangelical hallmark of a Church faithful to the heart of God.” Share Lent invites us to put this love into action, standing in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who face poverty and injustice.
By participating, we also join the global mission of Caritas Internationalis, responding to the Gospel call to walk with those most in need. The faithful of our diocese have always shown remarkable generosity. Thanks to your support, Development and Peace – Caritas Canada reaches communities in 34 countries, providing humanitarian aid while fostering sustainable development and peace.
With heartfelt gratitude, I entrust this appeal to your kindness and generosity. May God bless you and your family abundantly as you respond to this call to love and bear witness to hope.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Joseph Phuong Nguyen
Bishop of Kamloops

This Lent, please give generously
This Solidarity Sunday, Development and Peace ― Caritas Canada’s On Track for Justice campaign invites you to give generously and thanks you warmly for your generosity.
Your donation transforms the lives of some of our most vulnerable sisters and brothers across the world.
“Our longstanding partnership with Development and Peace — Caritas Canada is very important to us. It allows us to promote economic alternatives to mining and industrial agriculture, thereby strengthening local economies and agroecology. Your contributions help change the reality of communities here and make a difference for many other organizations around the world.” ― Mikaell Carvalho, Coordinator, Justiça nos Trilhos, Brazil
Help create hope for and fulfil the dreams of the communities we support in the Global South by giving to your Share Lent parish collection or online at devp.org/give. Thank you for your solidarity!
